My work place has a lot of spiritual integration and has for a long time this however has always been based on our Catholic founding. We are making lots of adjustments to this model making it more accommodating to all religions. Our work space has an orator and a wellness room. Additionally weekly masses are held. Our meetings often begin with a mission moment were we reflect on the work we're accomplishing at the site level. This said if I were in charge of integration I would try and adjust things to be more communal. Outside of the mass we do not have many formal spiritual rituals that the staff can engage in. I think having a weekly period of meditation would be more accommodating to many of our staff who do not identify as catholic. At the shelter level we do a better job of providing less denominationally restrictive activities providing youth with what we call "pride halls" that exist as spaces for spiritual expression of any kind. This is how I envision office oratories should exist. As for meetings I believe that mission moments really do serve a great purpose in reminding us how our work relates to the what we are trying to accomplish and its relation to the spiritual realm. Another element I would like to integrate if for somewhat self serving reasons would be sponsorship for spiritual training. I have been considering attending Diaconia courses offered through my church and while they're not extremely expensive it would be nice if my organization offered assistance in spiritual learning. Apart from these changes I believe my organization does a good job of providing spiritual outlets for those staff who wish to participate.
Daniel, Thank you so much for your distinctive thoughts as to how spirituality has been integrated in your own workplace.
