how about a compromise
So in doing my TKI exam I ranked highest in compromise sector. which was a huge relief because I only narrowly missed the avoidance sector scoring just one above. Although I realize the avoidance style has its advantages it certainly doesn't sound as compromising. I tend to like the way compromising is defined. I tend to be a person who wants the best for all parties involved although this may sometimes mean not promoting my own needs above others. I'm usually happier with this though, I'd rather have a pleasant environment then seek personal gain and this allows me to do that. Avoidance also allows me to try and ensure that I minimize negatives. Although both can have the effect of ensuring that nobody gets exactly what they want in the end. I wasn't very surprised by the results. Both avoidance and compromise are things I see occur on a regular basis in my career choices. In dealing with my clients at work both tactics have their advantages. I certainly was not surprised by the competitive sector being pretty weak in my exam although it is something which might be advantageous for me in certain respects. I don't believe it would help me in dealing directly with my clients but as my program becomes more integrated with the larger non-profit being competitive has advantages in ensuring the best for my program and my own career. I do believe that in these scenarios I try to heighten my competitive nature. Often I'll bring up how much better my program performs in comparison to other groups to make sure higher ups know how hard we've been working. That said its definitely a work in progress.
