finding teachable moments

As I come to the end of this class I must say communication with my partner and group was paramount in achieving success. My Partner throughout most of the curriculum was Laurie Brown-Goodwine and from the first assignment we were very good at reaching out quickly to discuss when we could make time to do assignments. Sending quick texts to set up more in depths discussions worked really well and gave us a template for the final group presentation. I noticed that assignments which involved larger groups i.e. the poster assignment and the survival assignment their tended to be a breakdown in communication efficiency. I think this might be the biggest lesson learned from the course. Going forward especially in a professional setting when working in a group larger then 5 people I think consistent and comprehensive communication will be really important as things can easily start to slip when the group gets bigger. Additionally I feel like I was able to see very clearly the value of communicating on different platforms. When communications were limited to emails it was very easy to lose track of where things were and when meetings would take place. As essential as it is to understand how communications are suppose to function it's equally important to understand how to react to a break down in communications.
