Seriously, Thank you

Gratitude is one of those qualities that I always look out for. I remember at a young age my mom lamenting when mine or my brother's friends wouldn't say thank you if she took us out for dinner. As a result it became something I looked out for in my friends and in myself. I really do try to express gratitude when I can and when it comes to little things like thanking someone for a ride or an invitation I'm pretty spot on in making sure I give a heartfelt thank you. Recently I found out my boss was resigning from her position and I was flooded with questions and anxiety about the future of our program. After bombarding her with questions though I remembered how I really owed the whole experience to her because of the faith she'd had in giving me the position in the first place. So I told her how much I appreciate all she's done for the program and in mentoring me. My boss had not found it easy telling me because we have worked so closely on this program and while she is going into an extremely exciting opportunity she still felt very torn. It's my hope that my expression of gratitude made it a little bit easier then it might have been. In life we sometimes lose our opportunity to say thank you to people who have truly meant so much to us. I certainly am not unfamiliar to this especially during my childhood there were a lot of people who had I been more mature I would have said thank you to before I lost the chance my dad and many teachers come to mind when I consider this. as a result though I really believe it is critically important that I don't miss opportunities in the future.
