leadership styles moving forward
As the semester comes to an end the style I think I most find useful and will continue to employ is consensus leadership. I find that while it is not the most direct leadership strategy that consensus leadership gives the leader the greatest ability to ensure that staff and upper management are appeased. The times when it doesn't work, when a snap decision needs to be made I believe that one who employs consensus leadership often enough will know the desires of his or her staff as well as the upper leadership. As a result I would think I could make an informed consensus opinion if there was not time enough to consult with all parties. Going forward as a follower I think being a Consensus leader will also be advantageous. I believe a good follower is able to inform the leadership about the desires of the staff and should be able to present it in a way which leadership accepts or minimally considers. Occasionally it will be impossible to satisfy both and in those scenarios the leadership will win out but I would know that I'd given them the best information possible and my honest opinion as well as that of my staff.
