Flexibility

It's always healthy as a leader to self evaluate especially when it comes to ones flexibility. I think we all tend to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt in these regards but by going through the surveys and self evaluations in the text book we can reaffirm or find areas we need to work on. I found that i try to be very charismatic and find ways to motivate others through a variety of techniques. I found that I am less likely to be micromanaging staff and this could cause issues for me if I give too much freedom. In my position I often am given the opportunity to let people sink or swim on their own. while I do try and give encouragement and direction sometimes this does not yield the results I hope to achieve from staff. I've worked on a number of projects that involved temporary workers and I found getting the best results in these situations incredibly hard. On one level these staff members are tasked with something critically important and thats why they've been called in outside of the normal hiring process but these employees have no allegiance to the company or institution they are working for. In these situations I believe I might have been better served being slightly stricter and using more formal motivation tactics to achieve the goals.
